A two-year-old child passed away on Saturday afternoon after drowning in her home in Sderot the previous night.
In a similar case, a four-year-old child drowned in a swimming pool in Yehud on Friday afternoon and was rushed to hospital.Magen David Adom said in a statement that the child is in serious condition and being taken to hospital sedated and ventilated.

“We arrived on the scene and were led to an unconscious child lying on the side of the pool after having spent a few minutes under the water,” said EMTs Eyal Goldberg and Meir Shalev. “We quickly gave him initial medical care on the scene and then transferred him to the hospital sedated and ventilated.”The police have taken in a number of the pool’s employees for questioning regarding how the place is run.

According to data from Beterem – an organization dedicated to the safety of children – since the beginning of 2021, 16 children have drowned, 7 of them under the age of four.

Orly Silvinger, CEO of the organization Beterem said in a statement, “We are in the last two weeks of summer vacation. Right now, more than ever, the danger of drowning children is tangible and alarming.
“Children are drawn to the water and try to reach them without realizing the danger. It is the parents’ responsibility to supervise them continuously and without distraction.
“It is important to understand that infants and toddlers under the age of 4 can also drown in shallow water a few inches deep, and even in a bucket or tub. That is why it is important to drain the water immediately after use. “
