Israeli woman shot in suspected stray shooting is in stable condition

A 37-year-old woman was shot by a pedestrian while driving in Bat Yam on Monday evening, according to Israeli media.
The woman, identified as Adi Peretz was driving in Bat Yam with her 4-year-old daughter in the backseat when she was shot in the head. An initial check revealed that Peretz has no criminal background. 
Police examined the video footage at the sight and obtained testimonies from eyewitnesses. Following further investigation, including by the Police Special Unit from Tel Aviv, the police suspect that Peretz is the victim of a stray shooting.Peretz was rushed to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv in critical condition, sedated and on a ventilating machine, and medical staff fight fought for her life.

“Adi’s condition is improving,” Prof. Racheli Grossman, deputy head of the neurosurgical wing in Ichilov, stated Wednesday afternoon. “She is off ventilation and making initial signs of communication. She is still hospitalized in the neurological ICU.”

Israeli media reported Wednesday that police suspect Peretz was caught in the line of fire in disputes between gangs in the city.
