A senior official in Israel’s soccer league is suspected of blackmailing and raping a female colleague of his. The woman originally filed a complaint with Israel Police on Monday. On Wednesday, KAN reported, she gave a second testimony to the police, which lasted approximately eight hours. In her report, she stated that he began to extort her after finding out and publicizing that she was sexually involved with one of the players, who is married. This had been going on for about a month before she filed the complaint.

The Wednesday testimony dates the start of the harassment to a year-and-a-half ago, when she began to receive threatening text messages. According to the young woman, he threatened to tell the owners of the sports team about the affair, and settled for “hush money” and sexual relations in exchange for not exposing her.

The KAN report added that the player with whom she had been involved knew of the extortion, but did nothing to defend or help her. Attorney Elior Gozman who is representing the woman – along with attorney Enoch Buchnik — helped her through the process of filing a complaint. The precinct confirmed that they received the complaint and are processing it. The senior official has not yet been arrested, though, according to KAN, he and the player will be summoned by the police for testimony shortly. The lawyers confirmed that a complaint had been filed and is being processed by Israel Police. “The investigation is under Israel Police’s jurisdiction, and we trust that the police will do their job and exact the law,” they said.
